Preparing for the DELE A2 exam? You need more than just answers — you need to understand how each question works. Below are 10 sample questions across the four test sections (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking), each with a full worked solution that shows the reasoning, not just the correct option.
These are representative of the real exam's structure and difficulty. Use them to identify your strengths and gaps before test day.
Reading Comprehension (Prueba 1)
Question 1: Short text – main idea
Text: "El lunes a las 10 de la mañana, la biblioteca municipal ofrece un taller gratuito de escritura creativa. Los interesados deben inscribirse en la recepción antes del viernes." Question: ¿Qué se ofrece en la biblioteca? A) Un curso de idiomas B) Un taller de escritura C) Una charla sobre libros
Solution: The key phrase is "taller gratuito de escritura creativa" — a free creative writing workshop. Option B matches exactly. Option A is wrong because it's not a language course. Option C mentions a talk, not a workshop. The answer is B.
Question 2: Matching – announcements
Text: Three short notices:
- "Vendo bicicleta de montaña, casi nueva. 150€. Llamar al 654321."
- "Se busca compañero de piso para compartir gastos. Zona centro. 300€/mes."
- "Clases de guitarra para principiantes. 10€/hora. Contactar con María."
Question: ¿Cuál de estos anuncios ofrece un servicio? A) El primero B) El segundo C) El tercero
Solution: "Ofrece un servicio" means offers a service. The first sells a product (bicycle). The second looks for a roommate (not a service). The third offers guitar classes — a service. Answer is C.
Question 3: Fill-in – vocabulary in context
Sentence: "Para llegar al museo, tienes que _____ la calle principal y luego girar a la derecha." Options: A) cruzar, B) comprar, C) leer
Solution: The context is giving directions. "Cruzar" means to cross (the street). "Comprar" is to buy, "leer" is to read. Only A makes sense. Answer is A.
Writing (Prueba 2)
Question 4: Short message – formal request
Task: You need to write an email to your landlord asking to fix a broken heater. Include: greeting, problem description, request for action, and closing.
Worked solution: Start with formal greeting: "Estimado Sr. García," (use last name). Then state the problem clearly: "Le escribo porque el calentador de mi apartamento no funciona desde ayer." Explain impact: "Hace mucho frío y no puedo usarlo." Make a polite request: "¿Podría enviar a un técnico lo antes posible?" Close with "Muchas gracias. Atentamente, [your name]." Key: use formal register (usted), clear structure, and polite tone.
Question 5: Fill a form – personal information
Task: Complete a registration form for a gym. Fields: name, surname, age, phone number, email, and preferred time (morning/afternoon/evening).
Worked solution: Write clearly in block capitals or legible print. For age, write the number (e.g., 28). For phone, include country code if needed. For time, pick one: "mañana" (morning), "tarde" (afternoon), or "noche" (evening). Example: Name: Ana, Surname: López, Age: 25, Phone: +34 612345678, Email: ana@email.com, Preferred time: tarde. No complex grammar needed — just accurate data.
Listening (Prueba 3)
Question 6: Short conversation – identifying speaker's intention
Audio transcript: "Hola, soy Laura. Llamo para confirmar mi reserva para la cena de mañana a las 9. ¿Todo bien?" Question: ¿Por qué llama Laura? A) Para cancelar B) Para confirmar C) Para cambiar la hora
Solution: The verb "confirmar" directly matches option B. She says "confirmar mi reserva" — confirm her reservation. Options A and C are not mentioned. Answer is B.
Question 7: Announcement – extracting specific information
Audio transcript: "Atención, pasajeros del vuelo IB3456 con destino a Madrid. La puerta de embarque ha cambiado. Ahora es la número 12. El embarque comenzará en 30 minutos." Question: ¿Cuál es la nueva puerta de embarque? A) 10 B) 12 C) 15
Solution: The announcement says "Ahora es la número 12." The key word is "nueva" (new). Answer is B.
Speaking (Prueba 4)
Question 8: Monologue – describing a daily routine
Task: Talk for 1–2 minutes about your typical weekday.
Worked solution: Structure: start with "Normalmente, me levanto a las 7 de la mañana." Then sequence: "Después, desayuno café y tostadas. A las 8 salgo de casa y voy al trabajo en metro. Trabajo de 9 a 5. Como a las 2 en la oficina. Por la noche, ceno y veo la tele. Me acuesto a las 11." Use simple present tense, time markers (primero, luego, después), and basic connectors. Keep it natural, not memorized.
Question 9: Dialogue – asking for directions
Task: You are lost in a city. Ask a stranger for directions to the nearest metro station.
Worked solution: Start politely: "Disculpe, ¿me puede ayudar?" Then state need: "Estoy buscando la estación de metro más cercana." If they give directions, confirm: "¿Entonces sigo recto y giro a la izquierda?" Thank them: "Muchas gracias." Key: use "usted" for formal, clear pronunciation, and show comprehension by repeating or clarifying.
Question 10: Role-play – making a complaint
Task: You bought a shirt that has a stain. Return it to the store and ask for a refund.
Worked solution: Greet: "Buenos días." Explain: "Compré esta camisa ayer, pero tiene una mancha." Show the shirt. Request: "Quisiera devolverla, por favor. ¿Puede darme un reembolso?" If they offer exchange, decide: "Prefiero el reembolso." Thank and leave. Use conditional "quisiera" for politeness.

How to Use These Samples
- Read the solution first — understand the reasoning before attempting similar questions.
- Time yourself — each section has strict time limits. Practice with a timer.
- Focus on weak areas — if writing is hard, do more writing tasks.
- Listen actively — for listening, write down key words while hearing the audio.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Overcomplicating — A2 tests basic communication. Simple sentences are fine.
- Ignoring instructions — read task carefully. If it says "write 30-40 words," count them.
- Skipping speaking practice — record yourself and listen for fluency.
- Forgetting register — use "tú" with friends, "usted" with strangers/authority.
