Is TOEFL accepted for Canada Express Entry?
No. IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) does not accept TOEFL iBT for Express Entry. For Canada PR, you must use IELTS (Academic or General Training), CELPIP, or PTE Core. If Canada is your destination, choose IELTS — the TOEFL investment will not count toward your immigration application.
Is IELTS harder than TOEFL?
Most Indian candidates find TOEFL's Writing tasks harder — TOEFL Writing includes an Integrated task where you read a passage, listen to a lecture, and write combining both; IELTS Writing does not have this. IELTS Listening is sometimes considered harder because it uses a wider variety of accents (British, Australian, American). Speaking: IELTS face-to-face is preferred by many; TOEFL's recorded speaking feels less natural to most. Neither is universally harder.
Which English test is better for US universities — IELTS or TOEFL?
Both are widely accepted. TOEFL has a longer history with US universities (most were TOEFL-only until ~2005), but IELTS acceptance at US institutions is now virtually equal. If you are applying only to US universities, either is fine. If you're applying to US universities AND UK/Canada/Australia, choose IELTS for maximum flexibility.
Can I convert my TOEFL score to IELTS for a UK application?
Universities and visa authorities do not accept self-converted scores — you must submit the actual test score. If you have TOEFL but need IELTS for UK, you will need to re-sit IELTS (UKVI version). The two score systems are not interchangeable for official purposes, even if conversion tables exist for planning purposes.
