Does the DELE diploma expire?
No — and this is one of the biggest differentiators vs IELTS, TOEFL, and most other language certificates. A DELE diploma issued by the Spanish Ministry of Education (through Instituto Cervantes) is valid for life. You take it once, you hold it forever. This makes DELE a one-time investment compared to the 2-year re-take cycle of IELTS for visa purposes.
Which DELE level do I need for a Spain student visa?
For estancia por estudios (study residence) of programmes longer than 6 months, B1 is the practical minimum requested by most Spanish universities for non-Spanish-medium programmes. For Spanish-medium undergraduate programmes B2 is increasingly standard, and for Master's programmes C1 is the common ask. Always confirm with your specific programme — requirements vary university by university.
Peninsular or Latin American Spanish — which does DELE test?
