IELTS: Cheapest, Hardest Writing
IELTS is the most affordable option and has the most test centres. However, the Writing sub-test at band 7.0 (required for GMC) or 7.5 overall is notoriously difficult for healthcare professionals who are not accustomed to academic essay writing. If your general English is strong and you can handle the essay format, IELTS is excellent value.
PTE: Fastest Results, AI-Scored
PTE Academic is entirely computer-based and AI-scored, which means results are fast (often within 24 hours) and marking is consistent. The Practical Approach
Take a free practice test for each exam you are considering. Compare your baseline scores against the required thresholds. The test where you score closest to the target with the least preparation is the right choice — regardless of which test is theoretically 'easiest.'
