- No visa or residency requirement. You do not need to be living in Japan or hold a student visa. The exam is conducted in multiple cities across India and abroad.
- You may take the test in any country where it is offered, regardless of your nationality or where you live. However, registration is done through the local host institution in that country.
Special Rules for Test-Takers with Disabilities
The JLPT organizers make reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, including visual, hearing, or mobility impairments. Requests must be submitted during registration — typically 4–6 weeks before the exam date. Contact your local test center directly for specific accommodation forms and deadlines.
