Vocabulary: Kanji Reading (問題1)
Question 1 彼はその遺跡の発掘に十年を費やした。
- 1いせき 2. いしき 3. いじき 4. いぜき
Solution The correct reading is いせき (iseki).
- 遺 (い) means “remain/bequeath” and 跡 (せき) means “trace/ruins.” Together they form “ruins/archaeological site.”
- いしき (ishiki) would be “意識” (consciousness).
- いじき and いぜき are not standard readings.
- Tip: JLPT N1 often tests uncommon kanji compounds. Focus on 音読み (on-yomi) for two-kanji words like this.
Vocabulary: Contextual Fill-in (問題2)
Question 2 この計画は、経費の面で__がある。
- 1余地 2. 余裕 3. 余計 4. 余分
Solution The correct answer is 余地 (yochi) meaning “room/leeway.”
- The sentence: “This plan has room for improvement in terms of expenses.”
- 余裕 (yoyuu) means “surplus/spare capacity” (e.g., time or money).
- 余計 (yokei) means “unnecessary/extra.”
- 余分 (yobun) means “excess/extra.”
- Only 余地 fits the abstract sense of “scope for revision.”
Grammar: Sentence Completion (問題3)
Question 3 あの歌手の歌声は、まるで天使が歌っている__だ。
- 1かのよう 2. かのごとく 3. かのごとき 4. かのごとし
Solution The correct answer is かのよう (ka no you).
- This is a set phrase: “~かのようだ” meaning “as if ~.”
- かのごとく is the adverbial form (used before verbs/adjectives).
- かのごとき is the attributive form (used before nouns).
- かのごとし is the classical/formal ending.
- Here, the sentence ends with だ, so we need the plain form かのようだ. The blank is before だ, so かのよう is correct.
Grammar: Ordering Sentences (問題4)
Question 4 新しいルール________**、混乱が生じた。
- 1の 2. 導入 3. に伴い 4. を
Solution Correct order: 3 → 4 → 2 → 1 → に伴い を 導入 の → “導入に伴い” (with the introduction).
- The full phrase: “新しいルールの導入に伴い、混乱が生じた。”
- “に伴い” means “along with / accompanying.”
- The particle の connects ルール to 導入.
Reading: Short Passage (問題5)
Question 5 Read the following and answer: 「近年、AI技術の進歩により、多くの業務が自動化されている。しかし、創造性を要する分野では、人間の役割は依然として重要である。特に、芸術やデザインの領域では、AIが生成した作品と人間が生み出した作品の間に、微妙な違いがあると専門家は指摘する。」
What does the expert point out?
- 1AI can fully replace humans in creative fields.
- 2There are subtle differences between AI and human works in art and design.
- 3AI technology has not advanced enough for automation.
- 4Human creativity is no longer needed.
Solution The correct answer is 2. The passage explicitly says “AIが生成した作品と人間が生み出した作品の間に、微妙な違いがある.” The other options contradict the text.

Reading: Long Passage (問題6)
Question 6 Read the passage and answer: 「持続可能な社会を実現するためには、個人の意識改革だけでなく、制度の整備が不可欠である。例えば、リサイクル率を上げるには、分別のルールをわかりやすくし、回収拠点を増やす必要がある。また、企業に対しても、環境負荷の低い製品の開発を促進する税制優遇措置が効果的だ。」
What is the main point?
- 1Individual effort alone is enough.
- 2Both personal awareness and institutional improvements are necessary.
- 3Tax incentives are the only solution.
- 4Recycling rules should be simplified.
Solution The correct answer is 2. The first sentence states the main idea: “個人の意識改革だけでなく、制度の整備が不可欠.” The rest provides examples. Option 4 is just one example, not the main point.
Listening: Task-Based Comprehension (問題7)
Question 7 [Audio script] 女の人が話しています。この女の人は何について説明していますか? 「えー、こちらが新しく開発されたフィルターです。従来のものより目が細かく、微粒子までキャッチできます。ただし、交換頻度は従来の倍になりますので、コストにはご注意ください。」
What is the woman explaining?
- 1A new filter with finer mesh but higher replacement cost.
- 2A cheaper filter that lasts longer.
- 3A filter that requires no maintenance.
- 4A filter that is identical to the old one.
Solution The correct answer is 1. She says it catches finer particles (目が細かい) but replacement frequency doubles (交換頻度は倍).

- 1The train stopped and the bus was crowded, so he walked.
- 2He overslept.

Question 9 Look at the following notice: 「図書館休館のお知らせ 下記の期間、蔵書点検のため休館いたします。 期間:2026年4月1日~4月5日 なお、4月6日(月)は通常通り開館します。」
When does the library reopen?
- 1April 5
- 2April 6
- 3April 1
- 4April 7
Solution The correct answer is 2. The notice says the closure is from April 1 to April 5, and April 6 (Monday) will be open as usual.
Grammar: Integrated Comprehension (問題10)
Question 10 次の文を読んで、正しいものを選びなさい。 「彼は努力家で、毎日欠かさず勉強している。__、試験に合格できなかった。」
- 1それにもかかわらず 2. したがって 3. そのうえ 4. なぜなら
Solution The correct answer is 1 (それにもかかわらず = nevertheless).
- The first part says he studies hard every day. The second says he couldn't pass. This is a contrast, so にもかかわらず is appropriate.
- したがって (therefore) would indicate a cause-effect, which is opposite.
- そのうえ (moreover) adds information, not contrast.
- なぜなら (because) would require a reason.
