Reading & Use of English

8 parts, 56 questions covering multiple-choice cloze, open cloze, word formation, key-word transformations, plus four long-text tasks (multiple choice, gapped text, multiple matching, cross-text matching).
Writing
90 min · 2 parts
Part 1: a compulsory 220–260 word essay summarising two given prompts. Part 2: choose one from letter/email, proposal, report, or review (220–260 words). Marked on content, communicative achievement, organisation, and language.
Listening

4 parts, 30 questions. Short extracts, monologues, an interview, and a five-way multiple matching task. Authentic accents — British, Australian, American, Irish.
Speaking
15 min · 4 parts
Paired test with another candidate. Interlocutor + assessor. Four parts: interview, individual long turn, collaborative task, and discussion. Tests interactional and discourse management skills.

Does the Cambridge C1 certificate expire?
No. Unlike IELTS, the Cambridge C1 Advanced certificate has lifetime validity. Once you pass, you have a permanent record of your C1-level English — which is a major reason it is preferred by candidates building long-term international careers.
How long should I prepare for Cambridge C1 if my English is already strong?
