telc Deutsch C2 — the professional-credentials gate for doctors, lawyers, teachers and translators
C2 is the Mastery level — native-near accuracy under timed conditions, with register switching between formal essay, journalistic and idiomatic spoken German. Our mocks are aligned with telc GmbH's blueprint and score every module on the same 60%-per-skill, no-compensation criterion the real exam uses.

The highest CEFR level — and a professional credential, not just a language test
Issued by telc GmbH (Frankfurt), telc Deutsch C2 certifies Mastery-level German. Authorities accept it for Approbation, bar admission, university teaching, translator accreditation and BAMF trainer qualification.
- Conducting body: telc GmbH — The European Language Certificates, Frankfurt am Main.
- CEFR level: C2 (Mastery) — the highest level on the Common European Framework.
- Modules: 5 — Hörverstehen, Leseverstehen, Sprachbausteine, Schreiben, Sprechen.
- Duration: ~240 min written + ~30 min oral on a separate slot.
- Pass criterion: 60% per skill, with no compensation across skills — every module must clear independently.
- Retake: Failed individual modules can be re-sat within 1 year at most centres.
- Validity: The certificate does not expire; many authorities require it to be ≤ 2-3 years old at submission.
- Hörverstehen~40 min
- Leseverstehen~70 min
- Sprachbausteine~30 min
- Schreiben~90 min
- Sprechen (separate slot)~30 min

Three things candidates underestimate about the C1 → C2 leap
Sprachbausteine is its own module
telc keeps a separate structural-grammar module that Goethe C2 quietly removed. At C2 level this means cloze items testing rare connectors, valency patterns and register-appropriate lexis — you cannot hide weak grammar behind strong content.
Professional-register weighting
Schreiben at C2 is a Stilanalyse of an authentic Leitartikel — journalistic register, formal hedging, idiomatic precision. Goethe's literary essay is a different beast. telc's bar is 'a German professional would read this and not stumble'.
No compensation across 5 modules
60% per skill, independently. A stellar Sprechen will not rescue a 58% Sprachbausteine — you re-sit just that module. Our diagnostic flags the weakest module 6 weeks out so you can defend the floor.
