Polish State Certificate Exam Format Explained: Modules, Levels and Scoring

The Polish State Certificate exam format (egzamin certyfikatowy) tests Polish across five modules, at levels from A2 to C2. Knowing the structure is the first step to a confident pass.

The five modules

  • Rozumienie ze słuchu – listening.
  • Rozumienie tekstów pisanych – reading.
  • Poprawność gramatyczna – grammar (from B1 upward).
  • Pisanie – writing.
  • Mówienie – speaking.

How it is scored

The exam is passed module by module — you need a sufficient result in each, not just a good average. Because a single weak module can fail the whole exam, balanced, per-module practice is essential.
