Prøve i Dansk Exam Format Explained: PD1, PD2, PD3 and Studieprøven

The Prøve i Dansk exam format covers four levels of Danish, each with its own paper. Knowing the structure is the first step to a confident pass.

The levels

  • Prøve i Dansk 1 – A2 · Prøve i Dansk 2 – B1 · Prøve i Dansk 3 – B2
  • Studieprøven – C1 (university entrance)

The skills tested

Prøve i Dansk 1–3 assess reading (Læseforståelse), writing (Skriftlig fremstilling) and oral communication (Mundtlig kommunikation). Studieprøven also includes listening (Lytteforståelse).

How it is graded

Danish exams use a graded scale rather than a simple pass/fail, and you need a sufficient result in each part. Practising each section in the real format under timed conditions is the surest route.
