Wondering how to prepare for the CILS exam? The most effective method is deliberate practice with full-length mock tests, reviewed skill by skill. Here is a simple plan that works for every CILS level from A1 to C2.
1. Take a diagnostic mock first
Before you study anything, sit one complete CILS mock at your target level. The per-skill score shows you where you stand and stops you wasting time on skills you have already mastered.
2. Target your weakest skill
CILS is passed one skill at a time, so focus your effort where the diagnostic revealed gaps — often Produzione scritta (writing) or Analisi delle strutture (grammar). Drill that skill, then re-test.
3. Practise under real timing
Always practise timed. CILS pressure is real and pacing is a skill of its own. Our mocks run to the official timing so exam day feels familiar.
4. Learn from AI feedback
After each writing and speaking task, read the AI feedback carefully and rewrite. Improvement comes from acting on feedback, not just collecting scores.
5. Repeat with fresh papers
Use a different mock each time so you build real ability, not memorised answers. Start your plan with our CILS mock tests and choose a plan that fits your exam date.
